Well Kaidol Fans If you haven't heard by now our boy didn't make it through tonight. We did our best but now it is entirely up to the judges. Next week Thursday is the Wildcard round where the final 3 contestants will be hand picked by the judges. The details have yet to be revealed on how the Wildcard round actually works so it looks like we have one more week of nail biting suspense left.

I want to again thank Kaidols everywhere for their love and support of Our American Idol, Kai Kalama. I think I speak for everyone when I say we are so proud of Kai and for everything he has accomplished. This definitely won't be the last we hear from him. We love you Kai!

Group 2 Performance

This week the group performed Ne-Yo's "Closer" which was a much better choice from last weeks disaster "I'm Your's". I have to say I really liked this weeks group performance. Kai sounded awesome and looked great. I loved the faux shirt & tie t-shirt he had on.

Local singer/musician Kai Kalama reaches for his dreams on TV’s biggest stage—American Idol

It’s a far cry from playing the karaoke bar at Taka-O Japanese Restaurant in San Clemente, but from those humble local beginnings, 27-year-old Kai Kalama has made it to the biggest stage in America—American Idol. This week the singer/musician from San Clemente will attempt to move into the final 12 contestants, having made it all the way to the final 36 following his successful audition in San Francisco and subsequent elimination rounds.

“It’s quite a ride to try to get there,” Kalama said in an exclusive interview with the SC Times. “You see a lot of talented people go home who you thought would be there instead of you.”

As unlikely as the journey might seem, for Kalama the trip to Hollywood via San Francisco has been something he’s dreamed about.

Kaidols United

I thought yesterday was suspenseful just waiting to see Kai perform but I think today is even worse waiting for the results. My crew and I were voting nonstop for the allotted 2 hours with a phone in each hand but the lines were so busy we didn't get in as many votes as I had anticipated. Luckily from the posts on Facebook and the Kaidol Forum groups there were some very impressive vote tallies reported. Hopefully the late night and the newly formed finger blisters paid off and Kai will take one of the the three spots tonight.

It's time to VOTE for our American Kaidol. Kai was the 10th performer tonight and sang "What becomes of the broken hearted". I thought he rocked it and we finally got to see more of his personality and showmanship. He threw in a couple new moves and played to the audience and had them up on their feet. We had a quick glimpse of Mombo and his brother cheering him on in the audience. I wish they talked to the contestants and their families more like last week. The judges had mixed reviews but the fans are behind him so lets get to it.

VOTING IS UNLIMITED following the show per method in the two hours after Kai's show next Wednesday, February 25th. Everyone should be able to access multiple methods (as described below). International or overseas voters can also participate!

Tips for Voting Online:

You can Vote 3 different ways online (maybe all at once if you're so inclined.)

If you're living abroad, or if you can't make the call from a phone you can call for free ONLINE by following the directions below:

Semi-Finals Group 1 Results

Well tonights episode was definitely an encore to last nights lack luster show. They started the show off with a group performance or should I say slaughter of "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. There are some songs that should not be performed in groups, especially groups with Tata in them. Then they called each of the contestants up and had them stand there while they replayed their nightmarish performances and again told them how much they need to improve. The three who managed to squeak by into the final 12 were Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver.

The only good part of the show was the last 2 minutes when they revealed Group 2 in a dancing montage. We of course see our Kai Kalama, one of the best dancers, as he throws down and gets dirty. I can't wait til next Wednesday when we can finally start voting!

Semi-Finals Group 1

Tonight the contestants were to choose a Top 10 song from the Billboard Hot 100 list from any year. So basically they could sing any song imaginable and for the most part they chose the wrong song. I was happy to see Paula back making her memerable slured comments, you gotta love live TV. Overall I was not too excited with the 12 performances tonight. I don't know if it was just nerves or bad song choices but no one really brought down the house. Here is a brief recap of the first 12 contestants.

Jackie Tohn - “A Little Less Conversation” by Elvis Presley - Ok voice but I couldn't concentrate on anything with her jumping all around the stage in her spandex pants from the 80's.
Ricky Braddy - “A Song For You” - by Leon Russell - Good voice, where have they been hiding him?
Alexis Grace - “Never Loved a Man” by Aretha Franklin - Probably the best overall girl performance but still missing something.
Brent Keith - “Hicktown” by Jason Aldean - He was too Country Night at the local Karaoke Bar for me.
Stevie Wright - “You Belong to Me” by Taylor Swift - Wrong song choice and vocals were completely off. I just wanted it to end for her sake.
Anoop Desai - “Angel of Mine” by Monica - Good vocals but a little disappointed at his overall performance, kind of boring.
Casey Carlson - “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” by the Police - Bad song choice and she didn't look comfortable singing it.
Michael Sarver - “I Don’t Wanna Be” by Gavin DeGraw - What a weird song choice for him, another performance that made me uncomfortable.
Anne Marie Boskovich - “Natural Woman” by Aretha Franklin - I don't know what people are thinking when they pick such iconic songs. Not good at all.
Stephen Fowler - “Rock With You” by Michael Jackson - Another bad song choice, very few can pull off Michael Jackson. Any 2nd chance he was given he threw away tonight.
Tatiana Del Toro - “Saving All My Love For You” by Whitney Houston - What's going on and where is the crazy Tata that we love to hate? I think she has been invaded by the Body Snatchers. By NOT being her crazy self it made her seem even MORE crazy. She was surprisingly good tonight. I can't beleive I'm saying that.
Danny Gokey - “Hero” by Mariah Carey - He delivered a good all around performance as expected.

The First Group Of 12 To Perform

The First Group of Twelve to perform are Casey Carlson, Stephen Fowler, Jackie Tohn, Ricky Braddy, Anne Marie Boskovich, Brent Keith, Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver, Stevie Wright, Danny Gokey, Tatiana Del Toro, Anoop Desai.

It looks like we will need to wait at least one more week before we get a chance to vote for Kai. In the meantime this gives us time to get our fingers ready to dial like crazy when it's Kai's turn to perform.

Hollywood Week Round Four - It's Unanimous

Tonight was the dreaded Green Mile round where the final 36 contestants were chosen in "The Judges Mansion". AI also decided to shake it up a bit by announcing that certain coupled contestants would be in an impromptu "sing off" to stake their claim. Our Kai Kalama was not one of those contestants as he received an unanimous decision to advance to the next round. It looks like the rumors were true. Way to go VFTW and Joesplace for being 100% accurate.

Though we did get to see more of Kai this episode I was not able to find an individual video so please enjoy this video montage of contestants who made it to the final 36. We are so proud of Kai and can't wait to start voting for him!

Hollywood Week Round Three

Tonight was round 3 of the Hollywood week. The remaining 72 AI hopefuls were whittled down to 50 using the nail biting room separation technique. All 72 were in one room at the beginning of the show then slowly they were separated into 4 different rooms. Kai was sent to Room 2 along with Nate Marshall, Casey Carlson, Joanna Pacitti, Stephen Fowler, Alex Wagner-Trugman, Arianna Ayesha Afsar, Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver, Jasmine Murray, Kenny Haufpouer and Shera Lawrence. The judges come in to deliver the good news and the room erupts with excitement and shouts for joy. I found myself doing the same thing even though I have read all the spoilers, I couldn't help myself.

Hollywood Week Round Three

We did get to see Kai's performance tonight but his voice was a little strained due to the strenuous schedule of Hollywood Hell Week. He looked great up on stage playing his guitar and singing Stevie Wonder's Part Time Lover. Tomorrow night we get to see the "chair round" when the final 36 are announced. GO KAI!

Rumor Has It

If you are a true Kaidol Fan you already know what I'm going to say so try not to get too bored. If you have not heard the rumors and have been living under a rock for the last 2 weeks here you go.

The list of the top 36 contestants has been leaked, according to the trusted AI website's Vote For the Worst and Joesplace. They of course have not been verified officially by American Idol but they think it's pretty spot on. To make a long story short, Kai Kalama is on that list!. Hollywood Week Round Two

I've been out sick so I'm a little late posting this, sorry guys.
Wednesday night was round 2 of Hollywood week and we again did not see much of Kai Kalama due to all the drama the crazy girls were having. It's so annoying how much time they give to crazy people and don't focus on real talent. We did see a quick clip of Kai's group making it through to the next round which was very exciting. Hopefully we will see more of Kai this Tuesday as they have get a little more solo time. Go Kai!

Hollywood Week Round One

The first of “Idol’s” Hollywood episodes this season focused on the first two days at the Kodak Theatre, where the field of contestants was cut from 147 to 104. Most of the hour was spent on those who made it through to Wednesday’s group sing. Though we only saw a couple of quick clips of our Kai Kalama he definitely made the 1st cut and will be back tonight in the group sing. Go Kai!

The Wait Is Almost Over

Over the last 2 weeks I have been patiently awaiting the Hollywood rounds and have read just about everything I could find on our AI, Kai Kalama. I was happy to see the overwhelming support and good press he has received. I think he is defiantly going to be a force to be reckoned with once we see him do his thing in Hollywood. The combination of pure talent, humility and the love for what he does will get him to the top. We will get the chance to see our Idol tonight as they start Hollywood Round One. I will try to get tonight's episode up as soon as possible.
